Blue Ridge Ruggers

Meeting Info:

Blue Ridge Ruggers meet on the first Tuesday of every month, year round at the Church of the Transfiguration, 7624 Roanoke Rd., Fincastle, VA  24090.  Members and visitors are welcome to come for all or part of the day.  We have a “Show and Tell” each month for each hooker to hold up their current rug and tell the group about it.  We also encourage everyone to bring finished pieces to show any time.  On occasion, we have a theme where we ask everyone to bring their Christmas rugs or footstool rugs, etc.

We hold a workshop each May.  We have brought in a teacher and we have created a workshop of our own.  Once per year, we hold a sale day when members can sell rug hooking supplies and wool that they no longer use.  We also have “free” and “sale” tables set up each month for members to use.

Please reach out to the chapter president for meeting details.

Chapter History:

The Blue Ridge Ruggers ATHA Chapter was founded in 2019 by veteran hooker Eleanor Branin and assisted by Leonora Drzymala and Kay Brady.  Our vision was to have a monthly meeting place where hookers could come together to work on their art and share their experience with other hookers and to teach anyone interested in learning the art of rug hooking.  This is a place where members find support, encouragement, inspiration, and education.  Our members range from beginner to expert.
