The chapter meets monthly on the Third Saturday of the month (September through June) for teacher presentations, instruction, fundraisers, and camaraderie. Our meetings are open to the public, often acquiring new members in this way. In addition, we have open hooking every Monday throughout the year. All meetings (9:30am-1:30pm) are at the Harwich Community Center, 100 Oak Street, Harwich, MA 02645. Contact a chapter officer at [email protected] for more details.
We are also committed to outreach programs, demonstrating at fairs, and most recently, teaching young 4H members to hook.
Chapter History:
In January 2022, our chapter celebrated 30 years of ATHA membership. In the late 80’s, one woman, Sandy Cheverie, had a vision. She worked to gather rug hookers together, starting out with 37 members, and within a year, had 100 hookers. They elected officers, wrote by-laws, and in 1992, had formed our chapter and registered it with ATHA.
