North County Woolgatherers

Meeting Information:

We meet on the last Saturday of the month from January through October and have a holiday party in lieu of the November/December meetings. Our meetings are held at the Fallbrook Public Utility District, 990 E Mission Road, Fallbrook, California. We begin at 9:30 a.m. and end by 2:30 p.m.

History:

North County Woolgatherers was formed as an ATHA chapter in 2003 to promote interest in rug hooking. Membership is open to anyone of any ability level. At our meetings we enjoy the company of our fellow rug hookers and inspire each other with our individual artistic vision. We work together on our individual projects and on common themes. We recently completed a challenge to make a hooked pouch (shown among our pictures). We share our work at each meeting and have an annual throw down of rugs finished during the year. We provide support in obtaining patterns, wool and other supplies needed for our projects. We have an extensive library, donated by one of our members. This is a useful resource for our members.
We also act as liaison between our members and the local fiber arts community communicating information on their events. When possible we reach out to our local community servicing the “arts” in an effort to introduce it to the art of rug hooking. We have had two recent rug shows at the Temecula Valley Museum.
