OK Scissortail Fiber Arts

Meeting Information:

Our chapter meets most second Saturdays of each month, 9 am-3 pm at Prairie Moon Primitives, 13256 Lake Road Ave, Wayne, OK, 73095.  Location may change, so contact Vickie Taylor for meeting details.  We welcome rug hookers, rug punchers, needle punchers, and all kinds of fiber artists.  At our monthly meetings, we work on projects, have make-it, take-it classes, and enjoy demonstrations of wool dyeing and other techniques.  This year, we ae working on making Special Techniques Samplers, adding a new technique at designated meetings.  We host a 3-day retreat every year at Prairie Moon Primitives.  This year, we will welcome Gene Shepherd to teach a 3-day class.

History:

Our chapter was formed in 2017 by Carol Weatherman, an Oklahoma City rug hooking teacher and owner of THE SAMPLING primitive rug pattern business.  She wanted to start the first ATHA chapter in Oklahoma.  In the beginning, we met in Carol’s home and then at local libraries.  Now we meet at PRAIRIE MOON PRIMATIVES, a wonderful large fiber arts store owned by Ginger Jackson, located on her ranch in Wayne, south of Oklahoma City.
